We’ve designed Treasure Hunt Liverpool to be step-free around the whole route.
We asked a mobility scooter user to do an honest, independent accessibility review in return for a free game.
The test was carried out on May 2025 and below is the unedited review.
If you are using a manual wheelchair you need to have an experienced, confident, and strong pusher. In Liverpool there are some flat areas though there are also several long steady inclines which are negotiable with an assistant or a powered chair.
Step-free routing
The step-free alternative route around the back of the churchyard, prior to clue 12 was well marked on the map.
Waterfront and cobbles
The area around the waterfront near Liverpool Museum and Albert Dock has lots of cobbles, some of which are unavoidable. It does get quite tricky, especially if it is busy with other tourists around.
Merchant Navy memorial
The inscriptions on the Merchant Navy War Memorial are too high to read from a seated position and the Memorial is set on cobbles so would be extremely difficult with a manual wheelchair. I chose not to even attempt it and sent my husband to check it out.
Optional clue in Churchyard
The optional clue definitely cannot be done but I sent my husband for a look and enjoyed the sunshine whilst waiting a few minutes.
“ The clues and the maps are a lot of fun. We learnt new things and appreciated the beautiful scenery as we went around the city.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone as it was such an amazing experience. We had a lot of smiles and laughter and haven't stopped talking about it since.”
