Updated March 2025.
In our treasure hunts, we always like to recommend great spots for players to relax and take a break. The half-way point of Treasure Hunt Liverpool is Bold Street - so, in the name of research, we took it upon ourselves to thoroughly investigate the best pubs and cafés in the area. 🥂
Whether you’re after a coffee, a glass of wine, or a bite to eat, there are plenty of fantastic options nearby. Read on for our top recommendations!

Starting in Leeds, Bundobust expanded to Liverpool then Manchester, and we’re lucky to have them.
Serving funky, tasty Indian street food and a huge selection of beers from their very own brewery. Not just beers either, I went last week and had a delicious Vinho Verde (green wine from Portugal.)
It’s much bigger than most places on Bold Street since it’s above street level, so perfect for larger groups.
And it’s dog friendly too at the time of writing.

Crust has a special place in my heart because they nailed gluten-free since the day they opened. Props to them for bothering.
For everyone else, their bases really are something special. Part of a small, local group of Italian cafes, bakeries and restaurants, they import fresh ingredients from the south of Italy.
They’re always busy so don’t take booking except for huge parties. The downstairs overflow area can take about 50 so they can accommodate any size group.
In recent years they’ve got stiff competition from Rudy’s, a rapidly expanding Manchester chain, and recently Franco Manca’s. I hear very good things about Rudy’s.

LEAF has got to be the most versatile meeting spot in the city. With an enormous selection of tea, good coffee, good beer, good wine, good food, it works for any time of day.
They have a large upstairs area which is ideal if you’re in a bigger group.

Probably my favourite restaurant in the city. Middle eastern inspired small plates, done to perfection.
I’ve never had a bad dish at Maray (and boy have I tried), but the one must-have is the disco cauliflower.
The Bold Street branch is tiny, so walk-ins at the weekend are unlikely. They have a larger branch in the Albert Dock, where Treasure Hunt Liverpool ends.

Making their name with North Tea Power in Manchester, the owners relocated to Liverpool and boy, are we lucky to have them.
Tucked away on Wood Street, parallel to Bold Street, they know about coffee.
It has an ultra-minimalist vibe which isn’t for everyone, but thoroughly compensated by the ultra-yummy coffee. Oh and great cakes, hand-baked each day by a local baker.

BrewDog is BrewDog, and Liverpool’s branch is great. Great beer, good vibe, lovely staff.
You’ll find it just off the top of Bold Street.

“ The clues and the maps are a lot of fun. We learnt new things and appreciated the beautiful scenery as we went around the city.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone as it was such an amazing experience. We had a lot of smiles and laughter and haven't stopped talking about it since.”
